Matinee of the Masters

With Bernd Valentin, baritone and professor at the Salzburg Mozarteum, and Klaus B. Roth, renowned song accompanist from Cologne, the early summer highlight at the House of Music – Matinée of the Masters on Easter Monday, April 6. Bernd Valentin, baritone and professor at the Salzburg Mozarteum, and Klaus B. Roth, renowned song accompanist from Cologne, will kick off the "Master Class in Singing" with a varied matinee at the House of Music. This year, the concert will focus on Bernd Valentin himself, who has put together a program that is both diverse and appealing for this Sunday matinee. Selected songs by Brahms and a selection from Robert Schumann's song cycle "Dichterliebe," created in 1840 and drawn from Heinrich Heine's "Book of Songs," will make this matinee a delight for classical music lovers. Furthermore, a precious piece by Johann Sebastian Bach is sure to make the audience's hearts race: the "Kreuzstab Cantata" – named after its opening line "Ich will den Kreuzstab gerne tragen" – is one of only two from Bach's rich collection of cantatas that is explicitly preserved as a solo for bass. Klaus B. Roth will enrich the morning with piano pieces by all three composers. The matinee also marks the beginning of the Master Class in Singing, with public rehearsals taking place from April 22 to 25 at 6 PM, free of charge, in the hall of the "House of Music." The final concert of the master students will be held on Sunday, April 27, at 11 AM at the same location.

With the matinee, the "Master Class in Singing" begins, leading young singers to Haslach. The rehearsals are open to the public (from April 7 to 10, 6 PM to 8 PM at the House of Music, admission is free), and the students will present a public final matinee on April 12.
