The outstanding balalaika interpreter of our time is the Moscow-based star virtuoso Prof. Andreij Gorbatschow. Like no other player before him, he has revolutionized concert performance and established the balalaika as a classical concert instrument in the grand concert halls of Russia. "Humble in conversation, a lion on stage," is how he is described by international music critics. Together with his long-time German piano partner Lothar Freund, they have been performing on all the major stages around the world for many years, such as at Carnegie Hall or the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. They present a breathtaking sound feast with unimaginable virtuosity and joy of playing, performing original compositions for balalaika and piano as well as works from the violin repertoire.
