Ahle-Wurscht Day

The Förderverein Nordhessische Ahle Wurscht e.V. – supported by the city of Melsungen and GrimmHeimat NordHessen – invites you to the fifth Ahle Wurscht Day on Sunday, March 22, 2026. From 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, visitors can expect a culinary festival of a special kind in the area of the castle courtyard in Melsungen.

The Ahle Wurscht Day, which first took place in 2019 at the Domänenhof of Kloster Haydau and was repeated in the following years due to its great success, is now celebrating its premiere in the picturesque castle courtyard of Melsungen. The event offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the unique North Hessian specialty, the Ahle Wurscht, as well as other traditional sausage specialties.

Member businesses of the Förderverein Nordhessische Ahle Wurscht e.V. proudly present their products, accompanied by stalls featuring regional delicacies such as bread, cheese, honey, spreads, apple sparkling wine, and much more. In addition, bratwurst specialties from the Ahle Wurscht butchers will be offered, along with warm dishes, cakes, and refreshing beverages.

The Ahle Wurscht Day in Melsungen is not only a festival for gourmets but also an opportunity to discuss the potentials and perspectives for the culinary flagship of the region. The Ahle Wurscht, which is protected by an EU seal, represents North Hessian tradition and craftsmanship at the highest level.
