15th North Hesse Bread and Sausage Market

On the North Hesse Wecke and Worscht Market, many visitors from near and far flock to the Borken Town Hall Park on the last Sunday in September. The focus is primarily on the "Ahle Wurscht." Bakers, butchers, specialty meat shops, and direct marketers from North Hesse showcase their quality products and a variety of baked goods, grilled items, and sausages. After the opening at 10 AM, there will be an official inauguration of the Wecke and Worscht Market at 11 AM, featuring many prominent guests, including the master craftsmen of butchers and bakers. Following the opening speeches, there will be no tapping of the beer keg; instead, this year marks the introduction of a bread and sausage cutting ceremony. But it's not just at the sausage and bread stands that visitors can sample delicious treats. Many other delicacies related to sausage and bread will also be offered. Baumstriezel, Baumkuchen, crepes, langos, stew from the goulash cannon, homemade sweets, freshly prepared oven pretzels, olives, a variety of spreads, stuffed cherry peppers, spit-roasted pig from the charcoal grill, cheese, potato and cucumber Weckewerk, and many more delicacies will be available. The European Village will also be set up again with the partnership associations of the city of Borken, where many country-specific dishes and drinks will be available for purchase. Of course, our North Hesse Löwenbier from the Hütt Brewery in Baunatal will also be on offer. At 5 PM, our well-known Wecke and Worscht tombola will take place, featuring many great prizes donated by the vendors as well as by the Borken city administration, the partnership association, and the event organizer, Gastronomieservice Berthold Schreiner.
