Rejoice! Be glad! - Choral music for the 3rd Advent

With its Advent concert "Gaude! Rejoice!" the semplice vocal ensemble invites you to a reflective yet festive musical evening at Lukaskirche on December 14, 2025, at 7 PM. On the third Sunday of Advent, a program will be presented that musically embodies the inner movement of the Advent season: the expectant waiting, the longing for comfort, and the growing anticipation of the light of Christmas. A diverse spectrum of choral music will be performed, featuring works by Johannes Eccard, Johann Sebastian Bach, Michael Praetorius, Andreas Hammerschmidt, Anton Bruckner, and Zoltán Kodály. The pieces range from intimate and meditative sounds—such as Eccard's Advent motets or Kodály's impressive "Veni, veni Emmanuel"—to festive, radiant works like Hammerschmidt's "Machet die Tore weit." Timeless classics like "Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen" and Bach's familiar chorales add a special warmth and familiarity to the program.
