City guide Elmar Belthle will take you through the house built exclusively of oak wood in the Alemannic half-timbered style, constructed in 1464, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. This late medieval building, featuring a so-called "Bohlenstube," is one of the oldest houses in Sigmaringen. After the Thirty Years' War, the half-timbered house was in poor structural condition and underwent several renovations during the Baroque period (1649, 1690, 1760). After several changes of ownership, it was converted into a commercial building until architect Roland Stegmaier acquired it and nearly restored it to its original condition. The historic building can be visited at certain times and upon request.
