Winter Apéro at the Marketplace

The Waldkirch Advertising Community invites all citizens, families, guests, and friends of the city to start what is arguably the most beautiful time of the year together and enjoy this special evening. On Friday, November 28, starting at 4:00 PM, the Waldkirch Advertising Community invites everyone to the Winter Apero on the marketplace, marking the official kickoff to the Advent season in Waldkirch. Surrounded by 90 beautifully illuminated fir trees that transform the square into a small winter wonderland, the Advertising Community offers a delightful end to the week and a warm welcome to the pre-Christmas season. The Winter Apero is a highlight of the winter activities with which the Waldkirch Advertising Community and Waldkirch Marketing have been gradually illuminating the city in festive light since early November. And it is the moment many have been waiting for: at 6 PM, the Waldkirch Christmas lights will be turned on. For decades, these lights have transformed the city center into a sparkling passage, with their warm glow brightening the streets and making the traditional Christmas stroll a special experience. This lighting is a piece of Waldkirch identity – developed many years ago by the Advertising Community, funded by local businesses, and carefully maintained to this day. With the support of the city administration, municipal utilities, and technical services, it has been continuously modernized: optimized power supply, additional connection points, and energy-efficient LED technology ensure its future and make it one of the most impressive Christmas light displays in the region. The Winter Apero also leaves nothing to be desired in culinary terms: visitors can look forward to fragrant mulled wine and non-alcoholic punch, savory and sweet crêpes, delicious grilled sausages, and the first Christmas treats like pastries and Linzer tarts – all providing moments of enjoyment and inviting guests to linger. It is also a special tradition to donate the proceeds of the event to a good cause: The profits from the Winter Apero 2025 will go entirely to the fundraising project for the renovation of the historic Marienbrunnen (Mary's Fountain). Those who wish to support further can make donations in the collection boxes of Waldkirch businesses or directly to the Waldkirch Advertising Community – thus making a valuable contribution to preserving an important piece of Waldkirch city history.
