Axel Hacke has written a new book. It is titled "How Do You Feel? About Our Inner Lives in Times Like These" – and that is exactly what it is about. Our society is as dominated by feelings as it has probably never been before. People constantly talk about how something feels to them; even the weather is felt more than measured. Our consumer industry is as unimaginable without feelings as the success of populist politicians, which relies on their skill in stirring up fears. Social media? Purely emotion-driven. What does this mean for us? How do we deal with it? These are the questions of the evening. And because Hacke's readings always encompass everything, he will also present the most cheerful texts from his entire body of work. This will create a cheerful, relaxed, and thoughtful evening. Axel Hacke lives as a writer in Munich. He is famous for his column "The Best from the World," which he has published every Friday for decades in the magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. His books are bestsellers. His work has been awarded, among others, the Joseph Roth Prize, two Egon Erwin Kisch Prizes, the Theodor Wolff Prize, and most recently the Ben Witter Prize in 2019.
