Castle and Costume Festival Lindenfels

On the first weekend of August, the Odenwald town of Lindenfels will once again celebrate its famous castle and traditional costume festival, which has been held since 1904. The castle ruins overlooking the town will transform into an extravagant festival mile over three days, and thousands of visitors will line the streets during the historical costume parade on Sunday.

THE PROGRAM IN DETAIL:

Kick-off with the Lindenfels choirs on Friday
Traditionally, the festival starts in the spa garden with the singing associations on Friday evening. It begins at 7:30 PM. A total of seven choirs from Lindenfels and its districts will showcase their talents on stage that evening.

Square concert, fireworks, and atmosphere at the castle on Saturday
Saturday begins at 8:00 PM with the "Square Concert at Dalles" (Lindenplatz at Nibelungenstraße), presented by the Lindenfels traditional costume band. Following this, a children's lantern parade will take place through the streets of Lindenfels, ending at the lion fountain on Burgstraße.
At sunset around 9:30 PM, there will be a fireworks display over the Lindenfels castle. Immediately afterward, the Lindenfels castle will open its gates, where the band "Lärmfeuer" will provide entertainment against the unique castle backdrop. As in the past two years, the entrance fee of 10 euros includes a drink voucher.

Parade through Lindenfels and entertainment at the castle on Sunday
On Sunday, the highlight of the festival follows under the motto "Odenwald Farmers' Wedding around the turn of the century" with the castle festival parade. The parade is one of the most beautiful and traditional parades in the region. Approximately 400 participants from Lindenfels and the surrounding area will be dressed in traditional Lindenfels costumes, and the themed floats will all be pulled by horses – a unique form of representation. Many exhibits from the Lindenfels Museum will also be present, including the stagecoach that received the award for "First Regional Cultural Heritage in the Bergstraße District" in 2014.
Afterward, the festivities will continue at the castle, where the bride's dance will take place following the welcome of the guests, and the day will wind down with dance music into the late evening hours.

Brunch and children's afternoon at the castle on Monday
Monday begins at 11 AM with brunch.
At 3:30 PM, it will be the children's turn, with the popular children's afternoon taking place at the castle. Every child (possibly accompanied by parents) can participate, and prior registration is not necessary.
The musical conclusion of the castle festival will be provided by the Lindenfels traditional costume band starting at 7 PM with lively dance and entertainment music.
