Seefeld 14, 4853 Steinbach am Attersee
For the 10th anniversary of the Steinbach Gustav Mahler Festival and 130 years after the completion of Mahler's Third Symphony, the festival in 2026 will dedicate an expanded celebration week entirely to the sound cosmos of the composer – exploring diverse perspectives on nature, humanity, and music.
The program will include concerts, a thematic nature excursion related to the Third Symphony, a nighttime boat trip, nature experiences, a lecture series, a film screening, exhibitions, guided tours, and panel discussions.
The highlight of the celebration week will be the performance of the Third Symphony by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, conducted by chief conductor Markus Poschner, on June 28, 2026, in the Steinbach Hall – just a few meters from the place where Mahler composed his masterpiece.
Other participants in 2026 will include:
Miriam Kutrowatz, soprano
Eduard Kutrowatz, piano
Jason Starr, filmmaker
John Warner with Orchestra for the Earth (UK), chamber orchestra
Ensemble Liaison (Australia), trio: clarinet, cello, piano
Thomas Hampson, Mahler expert
