Gustav Mahler Symphony No. 3 - Bruckner Orchestra - Gustav Mahler Festival Steinbach

On June 28, 2026, the idyllic setting of Steinbach am Attersee will become the stage for a musical event of extraordinary cultural significance:
We can look forward to a concert of the highest caliber featuring the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, one of Central Europe's leading ensembles, under the outstanding direction of chief conductor Markus Poschner.

130 years after its inception, Gustav Mahler's 3rd Symphony, which was composed in the small "composing hut" by the lakeshore, will be performed for the first time at its place of origin and is now considered one of the most monumental and visionary works in music history.

The summers of 1895 and 1896 were the time when Mahler advanced and completed the work he began in 1892 on his third symphony – in his composing hut at the concert venue Steinbach am Attersee. He referred to this place, among other things, when he wrote to the singer Anna Bahr-Mildenburg about his work: "The whole of nature gets a voice in it and tells such deep secrets that one might perhaps sense them in a dream!" It is also dreamlike to experience this symphony at its birthplace with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz under the direction of chief conductor Markus Poschner.
