The audience will immerse themselves in the tale of the seductive Carmen, who captivates all men and forever changes the life of the shy soldier Don José. Second Season at Heumarkt
After the successful launch in front of the Belvedere with 'Don Giovanni', and the move in the second season to the Vienna Heumarkt, the opera arena at Heumarkt will once again become the stage for one of the greatest and most beautiful operas of our time in 2026.

International Opera Stars for the 'Bullring'
Isabel Leonard, Na’ama Goldman, and Ezgi Kutlu will star as Carmen, three internationally acclaimed mezzo-sopranos. The role of Don José will be performed by Oreste Cosimo and Dumitru Mitu. The established leading team of the Vienna Opera Summer remains unchanged: Joji Hattori will again take on musical direction and management, Dominik Am Zehnhof-Söns will be responsible for staging and casting, and Jessica Wurzer will handle choreography. Manfred Waba, who already directed the spectacular transformation of the Vienna Ice Skating Club into an opera arena in 2025, will also oversee the further development of the venue for 'Carmen' in 2026.
