With his current sound, Lucas Fendrich has definitively emancipated himself from his past and embarked on a new musical path. Musically and lyrically, he lets himself be carried away and imposes no limits. Pop reimagined and realized, with German lyrics that delve deep and always get straight to the core, rather than hovering somewhere in the orbit of the nebulous. Fendrich's songs address the hurdles of everyday life, mental health, societal pressures, the excess of escapism, or love in all its bright heights and painful depths. The already known singles from the Viennese artist strike a chord. "You and I against all" is a summery pop hit that tells of the shared struggle against external expectations and the beauty of togetherness. In "Fire over Vienna," one dances the waltz to the apocalypse with a lot of casual charm. "The fear of fear" places the often-tabooed topic of panic attacks at the center of the action and advocates for the value of therapy. Lucas Fendrich's album is called "Prescription-Free," but it is still urgently needed.
