Kohr Guitar Quartet

The Kohr Guitar Quartet was founded in 2023 in Neukirchen am Großvenediger. Inspired by the Austrian philosopher and economist Leopold Kohr, the ensemble represents an attitude that places the small, local, and human at the center – as a conscious counterpoint to a world where the large seems to dominate everything. In a time when cultural expressions are increasingly standardized and globalized, the Kohr Guitar Quartet sees itself as an artistic plea for diversity, closeness, and authenticity. Leopold Kohr, the author of "The Breakdown of Nations," warned us: when the large dominates, nations – and cultures – begin to break apart. This concert celebrates the opposite: the radiant resistance of the small, the power of a guitar – multiplied by four. The Kohr Guitar Quartet offers us not only music but also an attitude towards the world: with attention, with closeness, with that invisible precision that only the handmade can achieve.
