Hour of Organ Music: Ingo Bredenbach

The Tübingen cantor KMD Dr. Ingo Bredenbach, who has already performed several well-received concerts at St. Aurelius, is finally returning to us after 8 years! He brings an interesting program titled "Bach as a Learner." The gifted organist and communicator will share more about the program and his selection of pieces mainly by Johann Sebastian Bach and Dieterich Buxtehude during the concert. About the artist: Ingo Bredenbach, born in 1959 in Wuppertal, studied Protestant church music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen (A-exam in 1985), served as cantor in Meerbusch-Lank from 1983 to 1987, was district cantor in Nagold from 1987 to 1999, appointed church music director in 1996, and was a professor of organ and rector of the Tübingen University of Church Music from 1998 to 2009. In 2001, he founded a structured children's and youth choir program at the university, and since 2006, he has also been the director of the "BachChor Tübingen." Since January 2010, he has been the cantor at the Stiftskirche Tübingen. In February 2022, after studying at the Institute of Musicology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, he earned his doctorate (Dr. phil.); his dissertation, titled "Johann Sebastian Bach's Clavier Instruction – Bach as a Learner and Teacher," was published by Bärenreiter. He is actively involved in concert performances, teaching, and seminar work; he engages in music writing and composition; has publications with various publishers; and has recorded CDs (organ, children's choir). He is the author and co-editor of the textbook "Probieren & Studieren" (Strube Verlag) and the textbook "Basiswissen Kirchenmusik" (Carus Verlag). Recently, the extensive collection "Der Neue Quempas" was published by Bärenreiter, along with a two-volume collection of "Wochenlieder" by Carus Verlag.
