Weinheim is particularly well-suited for telling stories about women. "History is mostly presented in a masculine way," says Rose Derkau, one of the city guides in Weinheim. This is especially true because history was long written down only by men. This annoys her a bit, as Rose Derkau is very much aware of the historical significance of women. Her master's thesis was already about the history of women. The supposedly weaker sex sometimes pulled the strings in politics, while their men took the lead. But most of the time, this went unnoticed. Rose Derkau believes that Weinheim is particularly well-suited for telling stories about women. About those powerful women who lived in the castle – like Lady Jane and Elisabeth Auguste – but also about those who held the family together in the Gerberbach district. Or those who were feared and therefore imprisoned in the "Witch Tower." She leads to places in the old and new town, starting around 1293 with the first Weinheimer woman who believed she could reach heaven through a foundation, and tells stories about the legal status and education for women, about scandals involving citizens and noble ladies, up to the contemporary crime author who sends her female perpetrators to the (murderess) heaven.
