Legends of Austropop: Boris Bukowski, Reinhold Bilgeri, Minisex, and Schick Sisters Celebrate Opus at the Wiesen Festival Grounds
Austropop icon Boris Bukowski is celebrating his 80th birthday and is inviting everyone to a grand anniversary concert on August 15 in Wiesen. At "Legends of Austropop," he will meet with companions such as Reinhold Bilgeri, Minisex, and the Schick Sisters, along with Opus mastermind Ewald Pfleger. Together, they will celebrate an evening dedicated to Austropop—full of hits, memories, and goosebump moments.
He met the "Fritze" with the syringe, felt high on cocaine, and wore his love like a coat. Few Austrian artists have shaped the local music scene across generations as much as Boris Bukowski. In 2026, the cult musician will turn 80 and will celebrate this milestone with the anniversary concert "Legends of Austropop" on August 15 in Wiesen. However, Bukowski is not a dusty monument but still a vibrant part of the scene—provocative, touching, and full of energy. Thus, this evening will not be a retrospective but a celebration of a musical way of life: Austropop!
Naturally, long-time companions such as Reinhold Bilgeri, Minisex, the Schick Sisters, and Opus mastermind Ewald Pfleger will also be part of this unique concert.
Reinhold Bilgeri
Multitalent Reinhard Bilgeri is also in a celebratory mood, marking his 60th anniversary on stage as a singer, author, and filmmaker. His list of successes is long and likely unique in Austria. Three million records sold, 25 chart hits, many of which are internationally recognized like "Video Life" or "Some Girls are Ladies," along with being the author of numerous novels and highly successful in cinema with the adaptation of his bestseller "Der Atem des Himmels." That the "Rock Professor" still captivates audiences today is evident from a glance at the charts. Two of his biggest hits ("Video Life" and "Some Girls are Ladies") have re-entered the iTunes charts in new forms.
Minisex
Dressed entirely in white but without a bouquet, Rudi Nemeczek and his Minisex present themselves. The most successful New Wave band ("Ich fahre mit dem Auto," "Rudi gib acht," and "Du kleiner Spion") between Neusiedler and Starnberger See regularly reinvents itself. This also influences the songs the band is currently performing. "We play some underground classics from the time of the breakthrough into a new era in the late '70s and new material from recent years. Of course, we will also perform all the big hits from the '80s," explains Rudi Nemeczek. So, what can one expect from a Minisex concert in 2026? "The performance is highly energetic and quite unrefined," says Nemeczek.
Schick Sisters Celebrate Opus
After Opus singer Herwig Rüdisser officially retired from the stage in 2021, the Schick Sisters, along with Opus mastermind Ewald Pfleger, are performing with the program "Schick Sisters Celebrate Opus." The live set includes a variety of Opus hits, as well as songs from their first joint album "We Are One."
The organizer of "Legends of Austropop" is event legend Wolfgang Werner from artist4ever.at. "This anniversary concert in Wiesen is making history, as the legendary spirit and soul of Austropop come alive again here. Therefore, it is an honor for me to celebrate this musical highlight together with such great artists and to offer our guests an experience of the highest class."
