The Palais Vischer was built between 1787 and 1791 in the magnificent Louis XVI style according to plans by Stuttgart's Ducal Chief Architect R.F.H. Fischer. The builder, Johann Martin Vischer, CEO of the Floß- und Holzhandels-Compagnie (Raft and Timber Trading Company), spared no effort or expense to offer his guests a dignified welcome. And you can still feel that today. When you enter the city palace through the entrance hall and walk up the stylish staircase to the "bel étage," which has been partially preserved with its original furnishings, you feel as if you are right in the middle of life at the end of the 18th/beginning of the 19th century.
