Family Workshop: The Leather Workshop

Archaeologists typically find artifacts made from very durable materials during their excavations: shards of clay, fragments of tools or weapons made of metal, bones from humans and animals. Only under very specific conditions and with a lot of luck do items made of wood, fabric, or leather survive.

Very rare archaeological finds include the remnants of medieval bags and pouches made from animal hides. They serve as models for this leather workshop, where we will cut, punch, sew, and embellish. Whether for coins, odds and ends, or a mobile phone, there is a suitable little pouch for everyone, whether to hang or to attach to a belt.
