Family Workshop: "Bookbinding" at Lorsch Monastery

Monasteries and the craft of bookbinding – two terms that were inseparably linked in the Middle Ages. In the monastery, not only were texts copied, but they were also assembled into magnificent books, leaving a treasury of knowledge for future generations.

In our workshop today, the focus is not on the content of the books, but on their covers. We will learn how individual sheets come together to create a book, and then we will have the opportunity to handcraft and decorate a small booklet ourselves.

The workshop is suitable for the whole family (recommended age: from 8 years)
