Wine at the Lake | Wine Festival at Breitenauer Lake

At Wine by the Lake, it is said annually on three days "Wine & Culinary Delights in Grape-Like Surroundings" | 150 wines from 16 wineries and a supporting program with vineyard tours & children's activities. A highlight in the annual festival calendar is the wine village at Breitenauer Lake. Right by the lakeshore, around 150 wines from 16 businesses in the Weinsberg Valley can be enjoyed. Wine by the Lake has been awarded as a recommended Württemberg wine festival. Parts of the wine village are set up directly at the lakeshore. From the lounge chairs on the sandy beach, visitors can enjoy a great view over the lake and the surrounding vineyards. Culinary delights are provided by gastronomy businesses from the Weinsberg Valley, offering rustic wine accompaniments from the broom kitchen to warm plated dishes and desserts.

Location & Access
A few kilometers east of Heilbronn lies Breitenauer Lake in the Schwäbisch-Fränkischer Wald Nature Park. At the end of the valley, transitioning into the Löwenstein Mountains, the lake is idyllically situated between gentle hills and vineyards, and has been a popular local recreation area for over 40 years. A limited number of parking spaces are available directly at the lake. Public transport is strongly recommended for arrival. A bus shuttle from Willsbach train station is included in the entrance fee. The Obersulm-Willsbach train station is located on the S-Bahn line S4 Öhringen - Heilbronn - Karlsruhe.

Vineyard Tours with the Löwen-Express
On all three festival days, the Löwen-Express – a chic converted wagon – takes a panoramic tour through the vineyards. Along the way, two wines are tasted.

WEINwalks
A special highlight for all those who want to experience WEIN AM SEE in a completely different – and particularly enjoyable – way. Accompanied by wine experience guide Miriam Dausus @weinbummeln, participants will visit four selected wine stands on the festival grounds in about 45 minutes. Each stand offers a fine drop from regional winemakers, complemented by exciting information about the grape variety, cultivation, and the winery itself.

Tips for a Short Trip
The Weinsberg Valley is a true wine experience valley – it has been awarded the title of Weinsüden Wine Town four times for its special variety of experiences surrounding wine. The Württemberg Wine Hiking Trail and the Württemberg Wine Cycling Trail run through the Weinsberg Valley with various regional day tours.
