New Year's Concert: Johann Strauss Festival Ensemble

The ensemble founded by Jean-Paul Mathe in 1995 consists almost exclusively of musicians from Württemberg orchestras and has become a sought-after musical body due to its high musicality, precision, and sound quality. This is evidenced by the many top-class reviews and invitations to concerts beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg, as well as in Switzerland and Austria, and more recently also in Schleswig-Holstein for the summer concerts. Beyond their professional commitments in their home orchestras, the musicians of this ensemble are dedicated to the cultivation of sophisticated Viennese light music, as well as the elegant yet fiery and humorous interpretation of waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss, featuring special arrangements of this wonderful music. This year's New Year's concerts are themed "Music Without Borders." The program references the freedom in Europe, which is currently facing significant obstacles. Therefore, this small musical journey through Europe aims to express how beautiful it is to experience this continent as a free whole, unhindered by borders.
