Schwetzingen SWR Festival: Buzz

A concert for young and old with the Aires Tropicales Quintet – marveling at the musical diversity of insects. In "Buzz," the audience dives into the world of insects with tropical music. Everywhere, there are ants, beetles, grasshoppers, all kinds of mosquitoes and flies, cicadas, and butterflies. The Cuban woodwind ensemble Aires Tropicales Quintet explores the flying and crawling world of these small creatures, which are so important for life on our planet. However, the musicians must discover that the sounds and tones of the insect world have become significantly quieter – not just in tropical forests. With their music – a blend of Western European and Latin American classical, groovy new compositions, and Afro-Cuban polyphonic singing – they breathe new life into these fascinating and endangered little beings. The English word "Buzz" means something like "hum," "drone," or "chirp." A co-production of Oorkaan and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, with kind support from FUCHS SE.
