The world premiere at the Graz "Dom im Berg" will take place in an exceptionally fitting location: The hall evokes the dark interior of a ship's hull, thereby atmospherically emphasizing the abyssal mood of the piece. Historical Survival Story The starting point for "The Raft of the Medusa" is a true story: In 1816, the ship "Méduse" runs aground. There are too few lifeboats, and the surplus people are left on a raft in the middle of the ocean. What follows is a hellish struggle for survival. Inspired by a painting and the eponymous novel by Austrian bestselling author Franzobel, Noah Gessner-Lipp dramatically stages this historical survival story - powerful, captivating, and profoundly disturbing. Concert Meets Cinema Gessner-Lipp's work offers a performance of international caliber to a wide audience. The approximately one-and-a-half-hour percussion show consists of five movements, featuring a large live ensemble of percussion instruments and choir, complemented by cinematic sound effects.
