Ox and donkey

The Waldkirch Theater e.V. presents the Christmas story from the perspective of the ox and the donkey for children aged 5 and up at the theater in Milliongässli. This year, the Waldkirch Theater e.V. is showcasing the Christmas story from a new angle. Most people are familiar with the classic Christmas story of Mary and Joseph, which tells of their journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem and ultimately the birth of Jesus in the stable. However, this stable is actually the home of the ox and the donkey, who are usually relegated to the background as mere extras. Now, they step into the spotlight and tell the story from their perspective: After a long day of work, they come home and look forward to their dinner. But on the ox's hay lies a human child, all alone, without its parents. The two are a bit puzzled, and then the baby starts to cry. They contemplate what to do. This small, amusing Christmas story is both reflective and funny, filled with clever wordplay, turbulent moments, and is performed by the two actors Willi Jacke (Ox) and Christian Schönhoff (Donkey). Together with musician Wiebke Reichardt (Child), a small, very special theater production has been created. The play is aimed at children aged 5 and up, as well as all adults who would like to take an hour's break from the Christmas hustle and bustle. Performances are on December 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23, 2025, from 6 to 7 PM. Tickets are available in advance at the Augustiniok bookstore and at the box office.
