Because it doesn’t help to be in a bad mood about everything and anything - and because every failure tastes better when you go through life with a smile. Maybe his long-standing marriage will run more smoothly if he approaches it with joy. Perhaps one can endure the current messed-up state of the world better while watching the news with a joyful attitude. Maybe he will even appreciate the red numbers in his bank account more when he reads his statement joyfully. Perhaps he will find fat-free food simply tastier when he chews it joyfully. And maybe a colonoscopy will be more enjoyable if he is joyful during it.
