Vernissage: 16th Schwetzingen Student Exhibition: "Colorful Becomes More Colorful"

The 16th edition of the annual Schwetzingen Student Exhibition will take place in 2026 under the motto "Colorful Becomes More Colorful." As part of this year's School-Art Project, the students from the 3rd grade elementary and special education classes will each create their own painting on a square canvas (25 x 25 cm) and will be gradually introduced to the techniques of acrylic painting. Through the targeted use of tape, colorful fields will be created that are painted over multiple times, resulting in impressive color overlays and many new mixed colors. Each painting will become even more colorful in this way, and together all the works will form a large, vibrant overall installation. With an expected participation of around 200 children, a piece of art will be created that impresses both with its size and its intense colors. Furthermore, the project aims to send a positive message: In a time when we are often confronted with negative news, this art project demonstrates how diverse and colorful our society is. Every person is unique, multifaceted, and enriches our communal life—just as each individual painting contributes to the greater whole. The secondary schools (Hebel Gymnasium, Private Gymnasium) will also participate with their own works in the 16th Schwetzingen Student Exhibition. Exhibition of the works and opening of the exhibition: The created artworks will be presented in a temporary exhibition from May 7 to May 21, 2026, at the VHS District Schwetzingen e.V. (Mannheimer Straße 29, 68723 Schwetzingen). The opening will take place on May 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. All participants, their families, teachers, school administrations, city representatives, and art-interested members of the public are warmly invited.
