Regiswindis Church: A place of longing for the senses and the soul

A special tour around the Regiswindis Church in Lauffen with many exciting insights into its legend. The Regiswindis Church, whose tower is visible from afar, perched on a rock above the Neckar River, is more than just a building: it is the central setting of the Regiswindis legend. According to the story, the count's daughter was murdered here around 840 and was canonized after her body was miraculously found. In the Middle Ages, the church became a well-known place of pilgrimage. The medieval stone sarcophagus, in which the saint's remains were kept for a long time and which now stands in the neighboring Regiswindis Chapel, bears witness to the deep piety of the pilgrims. The belief in the power of touching the tomb made Lauffen a deeply rooted spiritual place for centuries.
