On Museum Day, both museums open their doors from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Bindhaus is located in a half-timbered house dating back to 1499 and focuses on local and regional themes. It houses the local homeland and crafts museum. Exhibition topics include: Pfullendorf Carnival, traditional crafts, agriculture, customs, and living culture from the 19th century. Visitors can also see a pharmacy, a general store, a classroom from grandparents' times, and the military history of the Bundeswehr, both past and present. The Old House, Museum of Pfullendorf's City History, is one of the city's special attractions. It impresses not only with its date of 1317 – one of the oldest residential buildings in Southern Germany – but also due to its floor plan size, its peculiar construction style, and the massive hipped roof covered with hollow tiles. Fourteen thematic information panels explain the history of the imperial city from its beginnings to the end of the 19th century. Various models, objects from the city's history, and important documents testify to past times and illustrate the city's development. Another area of the museum showcases the Pfullendorf guild constitution from 1383. Among other things, unique historical guild lanterns are displayed, highlighting the immense significance of the craft guilds in the imperial city. In the basement of the Old House, visitors can find an exhibition on the city's defense and judiciary. The "Old House" also provides space for changing special exhibitions.
