Where Vienna is most Viennese, the Balkans meet the stage – loud, captivating, and full of humor. For 28 years, Slavko Ninić has been bringing the sound of Southeast Europe to the city and far beyond with the Wiener Tschuschenkapelle. Born as a self-ironic trademark from the derogatory term "Tschusch," the band today stands for the diversity, vibrancy, and openness of Vienna.
The five musicians combine traditional melodies from Balkan countries, Turkish-Arabic-Oriental tunes, Greek Rembetiko, Bosnian Sevdalinka, Viennese songs, Gypsy jazz, and even classical sounds into an original, humorous, and unmistakable sound tapestry. Each performance is a celebration of improvisation, joy of life, and musical originality that captivates the audience from the very first note.
The Wiener Tschuschenkapelle is more than just a band: for decades, it has represented integration, cultural exchange, and critical awareness – always with charm, wit, and a sense of the right dose of humor. Whether in small cellars, large theaters, the Vienna State Opera, or at benefit concerts, their music connects tradition and modernity, home and foreignness, seriousness and exuberance.
An evening with the Wiener Tschuschenkapelle is at once sophisticated, enjoyable, and powerful: a kaleidoscope of sound colors, rhythm, and humor that allows the audience to deeply immerse themselves in the vibrant musical Vienna between the Danube beach and Balkan beat.
