Martin Kohlstedt

The global star is one of the outstanding composers, pianists, and producers in Modern Classical, Instrumental Music, and Electronica. His music receives international recognition, accompanied by concert tours around the world. Both live and in his recordings, Martin Kohlstedt sets standards for how cutting-edge Electronica can come together with analog and acoustic elements from classical piano, ambient, field recordings, and score design. Kohlstedt manages to intuitively find a common form for influences from such diverse worlds and to create a vibrant body from it - as a spectacular festival show, an introspective piano concert, a multidimensional film soundtrack, or an immersive album experience. He refers to his way of working as modular composing. The pieces are constantly in motion and do not follow a fixed form even in concert. Improvisation is an essential part of his creation, as is the courage to fail, the search, and the interaction with context, space, and people. Martin Kohlstedt has already collaborated with renowned partners such as the Gewandhaus Choir Leipzig, artists like Ben Böhmer, Douglas Dare, Sudan Archives, and Henrik Schwarz, as well as labels like Warner Classics. Martin Kohlstedt performs concerts in over 30 countries, including on the most prestigious stages and festivals in Europe. In addition to his own pieces, Kohlstedt composes soundtracks for films, theater plays, podcasts, and audio dramas.
