The Theresien Tower

An air-defense tower has stood on the Theresienwiese since 1940; during the final months of World War II, it served as a refuge for many. After the war ended, the tower provided sleeping quarters for people fleeing or passing through. A guided tour of the tower takes you back to that era. Join us in discovering a true treasure of the city: the striking elevated bunker at Theresienwiese. Built in the fall of 1940, this high-rise bunker stands as a silent witness to an era marked by air raids and the need for protection. Unique in its kind, it is the only high-rise bunker built specifically for air raid protection in Heilbronn during World War II. A remarkable detail of its history is the entrance, which was once at ground level and accessible via a footbridge that ran from the slaughterhouse across Theresienstraße. After the war, the footbridge was removed, which severely restricted access to the tower. A **one-day pass** for the entire HNV network is included. To use this service, the pass must be purchased in advance. You can then use buses and light rail for three hours before the tour begins and for three hours afterward, until the end of service.
