Invitation to the Historical "Bräuteln" in Sigmaringen

All newly married couples and wedding anniversaries of the year 2025 are warmly invited to the historical "Bräuteln" in Sigmaringen (February 17, 2026). An information evening for interested parties will take place on January 9, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Gorheim Restaurant. “Up on the Pole”

In just a few weeks, "Bräuteln" will take place again in Sigmaringen. On Fasnet Tuesday, February 17, 2026, it will once again be “Up on the Pole” in the Hohenzollern city. The Narrenzunft Vetter Guser has made it their mission to preserve and maintain this old tradition. In the Hohenzollern city, the wedding couples and wedding anniversaries from the past year, as well as newly married residents, are referred to as "Bräutlinge." These, specifically the male representative of the bridal couple, will be "bräutelt" in Sigmaringen according to old custom on Fasnet Tuesday, meaning they will be carried around the market fountain on a pole. This custom was already documented in 1723 and likely dates back to a medieval initiation ritual.

To prepare for the experience, the Narrenzunft Vetter Guser will inform the "Bräutlinge" and their wives about all the details surrounding the event during an information evening on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 7 PM at the Gorheim Restaurant. Participation in this event is non-binding. All newlyweds and wedding anniversaries from the past year have been invited to this year's "Bräuteln." Citizens who have registered a blocking notice with the city administration will not automatically receive an invitation to the Historical "Bräuteln." The registration deadline for this year's "Bräuteln" is January 16, 2026.
