BEAT - Performing the Music of 80s King Crimson

Adrian Belew, Steve Vai, Tony Levin, and Danny Carey announce their long-awaited first European tour.

Former King Crimson members ADRIAN BELEW and TONY LEVIN have teamed up with guitar virtuoso STEVE VAI and explosive Tool drummer DANNY CAREY to form BEAT, a creative reinterpretation of three legendary KING CRIMSON albums from the 1980s – Discipline, Beat, and Three Of A Perfect Pair. In 2024, the ensemble gave 65 sold-out concerts in North America, followed by performances in Mexico, South America, and Tokyo's legendary Budokan. Fans in Europe have long awaited the band's plans to perform in the UK and across the continent.

Before the 2024 tour, guitarist Adrian Belew reflected:
“The King Crimson of 1981 to 1984 created music all its own. Timeless. Beautiful. Complex. Intense. For the fans who experienced it back then, and for those who never got to see it, our goal is to bring it back to life. A monumental task, but we are taking it on! There are not enough exclamation points to express my excitement!”

Guitarist Steve Vai said:
“Being part of this ensemble is an extraordinary privilege and an opportunity to perform some of the most beloved, timeless, and monumental pieces of music from the 80s (and beyond) with truly inspired musicians. This music resonates deeply within me. Adrian, Tony, and Danny are unique musicians with an otherworldly knack for presenting rich musical complexity in a very accessible way, and I look forward to exploring our musical thoughts in real time on stage. I’m sure the sparks will fly.” He continued: “Father Robert Fripp is one of our historical geniuses. His highly specific and extraordinarily brilliant guitar technique is studied and revered. His contribution to the quality of my musical life and so many others is outstanding. I can assure KC fans that I will do my best to respect this great music with the care and intensity it deserves. Did I mention that the sparks will fly?”

Bassist Tony Levin said:
“This is going to be quite an impressive tour. Revisiting some of my favorite pieces of music is a pleasure in itself, but in the company of this outstanding lineup, I expect to get my musical butt kicked! And it’s also great that we’re not just playing a few shows – we’re really going for it. So, the road dogs are coming to your area soon.”

Drummer Danny Carey shared:
“I am very excited to share the stage with three of my favorite musicians on the planet. Tony, Steve, and Adrian have always been an inspiration to me since the beginning of my career, and now being able to share a piece of my musical journey with them is a dream come true. There’s nothing better to spark some fireworks and ignite a fire under your butt than stepping out of your musical comfort zone – and I can’t think of three other guys I’d rather do that with. I think I speak for all of us when I say we hope our fans are as excited about this tour as we are.”

The idea for this project arose from initial conversations between Angelo Bundini, also known as Scrote, and Adrian Belew. Tour producer Bundini recalls:
“When Adrian contacted me to make his vision a reality, it was immediately clear that we should focus on the albums of the 1980s: Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair. These three records marked the entry of Adrian and Tony into King Crimson. Their fluid, melodic virtuosity, combined with Fripp's and Bruford's precise drama, created a unique, dynamic tension that would inspire musicians and bands for decades to come.”
