Explore Science – Inventions & Discoveries

The event, which invites children and young people to discover and experiment every year, takes place under this year's motto "Inventions and Discoveries." Exciting hands-on activities, workshops, and stage shows awaken the spirit of inquiry. In 2025, the STEM experience days Explore Science were hosted in Friedrichshafen for the first time. In 2026, we will once again invite you to the lakeside promenade in cooperation with the city of Friedrichshafen from May 7 to 9. There, students, families, and all curious individuals can explore hands-on stations, attend competitions, and experience exciting workshops in school or kindergarten groups. Not to be forgotten: the varied stage program at the music shell. The event is open on Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM and on Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Participation is free of charge. Registration is only required for competitions and workshops. Information on the respective registration deadlines can be found on our homepage. With Explore Science, the Klaus Tschira Foundation aims to inspire young people in scientific topics and promote networking between scientific institutions and schools. The focus is on giving children and young people the opportunity to discover scientific phenomena for themselves and to understand them through research. Since 2006, Explore Science has been held in Mannheim, since 2018 in Bremen, and since 2025 in Friedrichshafen and Magdeburg. Our theme for 2026: Inventions & Discoveries. Curiosity is the engine of progress – it leads to discoveries that change our world and to inventions that open up new possibilities. At Explore Science in 2026, everything revolves around the spirit of inquiry behind great ideas: How do inventions come about? What coincidences or experiments lead to groundbreaking discoveries? And how do these shape our lives today and in the future? The program for Explore Science is implemented in collaboration with regional institutions from the education and science sectors.
