Church tour in Elsenz

Discover the exciting and turbulent history of the church as well as the architectural features of the church buildings during a church tour in Elsenz. The Kraichgau region, and thus the community of Elsenz, was Christianized in the 5th/6th century. Through donations, leases (Stift Wigoldisberg), and inheritance, Elsenz was divided between two bishoprics. With its affiliation to the Electoral Palatinate, the first church was built in Elsenz by the Elector in 1462. With the Reformation and the subsequent events (Thirty Years' War), the confessions changed eleven times between Catholics, Reformed, and Lutherans from 1545 to 1648. This exciting and turbulent church history, as well as the architectural features of the church buildings, will be vividly illustrated during the tour.
