Church tour in Elsenz

Learn about the exciting and turbulent history of the church and the architectural features of the church buildings during a guided tour of the church in Elsenz. The Kraichgau region, and thus also the municipality of Elsenz, was Christianized in the 5th/6th century. Through donations, leases (Wigoldisberg Abbey), and inheritance, Elsenz was divided between two bishoprics. As part of the Electoral Palatinate, the first church was built in Elsenz by the Elector (1462). With the Reformation and the events that followed (the Thirty Years' War), the denominations changed eleven times between Catholics, Reformed and Lutherans from 1545 to 1648.
