Sean Paul

In the 2000s, Sean Paul became one of the biggest pop stars of his time, making dancehall music a celebrated phenomenon worldwide. This was partly due to his song "Get Busy," with which the singer and rapper celebrated his first international party hit, immortalizing him as part of the mainstream soundtrack of the early 2000s. In 2004, Sean Paul received a Grammy for the album "Dutty Rock," which was awarded Best Reggae Album. However, his biggest success was still ahead of him: with "Temperature," the Jamaican singer achieved a global smash hit in 2005, making his party-ready dancehall sound and unique timbre world-famous. Throughout his over 25-year career, he released numerous other successful songs and featured on Beyoncé's "Baby Boy" (2002). In 2016, Sean Paul collaborated with global stars on Sia's smash hit "Cheap Thrills" and Clean Bandit's track "Rockabye," both of which became number-one hits in German-speaking countries. In 2018, the Jamaican artist scored two more hits with "No Lie" featuring Dua Lipa and "Mad Love" featuring David Guetta & Becky G on his EP "Mad Love: The Prequel." On May 19, 2026, Sean Paul will perform at an exclusive show in Vienna's Gasometer, bringing his greatest hits to the stage.

Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques was born in 1973 in the Jamaican capital, Kingston. At the age of 15, he began playing the keyboard and, inspired by his idol Bob Marley, started writing his own songs. It wasn't until 1996 that he released his first single "Baby Girl (Don’t Cry)," which marked his first success in Jamaica and quickly spilled over to the U.S. market. In 2000, he released his debut album "Stage One," and in 2002, "Dutty Rock" brought him international chart success, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard 200 as well as the German and Austrian album charts, a feat he also achieved in 2005 with his third album "The Trinity." This was followed by the long player "Imperial Blaze" (2009) before "Tomahawk Technique" brought him back into the top 10 in German-speaking countries. Since then, Sean Paul has released three more albums: "Full Frequency" (2014), "Live N Livin" (2021), and "Scorcha" (2022). After two new singles in 2024, "Greatest" and "Born to Love Ya" featuring Gabry Ponte & Natti Natasha, Sean Paul featured on Kyba's song "Ba Ba Bad" in 2025 and released his current single "Faith We A Keep" on December 12. Once again, he showcases his unique voice with modern dancehall beats, allowing his club-ready sound to shine brightly in 2025.
