The Australian and newly New Yorker Nick Murphy enjoys experimenting with genre blends and artist names, gracefully navigating as a songwriter through Future Beat, Hip Hop, Funk, Electro, and Modern Soul, always smooth and with excellent grounding.
In 2011, he made a significant breakthrough with his cover of the Backstreet Boys hit "No Diggity." In 2012, he showcased his cool, unhurried electro sound for the first time on the EP "Thinking in Textures," and in 2014, "Built on Glass," his acclaimed electro-soul debut album, was released, establishing him as a top-tier artist and earning him numerous ARIA Awards. In the years that followed, he continued to expand his highly regarded musical work and toured worldwide, with sold-out headline shows and performances on stages like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and many more.
"A Love For Strangers" (release date: February 13, 2026), his first album as Chet Faker in four years, expands his established sound in exciting new directions: with moonlit saxophones reminiscent of legendary acts like Prefab Sprout and The Blue Nile, as well as the lush, breakbeat-heavy pop of David Gray's classic "White Ladder."
In twelve fresh songs, Murphy reflects on heartbreak and uncertainty on a grand scale—he poses questions about how we interact with one another, examines how we fail in this regard, and conveys the necessary sense of hope when it comes to repairing our relationships with the world around us.
