The ensemble Faltenradio has been one of the most extraordinary phenomena in the Austrian music scene for many years. The four musicians – all masters of their instruments with extensive stage experience in classical music, folk music, and jazz – combine seemingly opposing elements to create a distinctive sound. With clarinets, bass clarinet, and Styrian harmonica, they produce a fascinating blend of virtuosity, humor, and joy of playing. In their new program "Überschall," Faltenradio celebrates their 15th anniversary. The title is indeed a program: with tempo, lightness, and a good dose of self-irony, the musicians break through the boundaries between genres – from traditional folk music to classical and even jazzy, improvised elements. "Überschall" stands for breaking musical sound barriers, for creative explosions, and for the subtle nuances between notes and pauses.
