On a guided tour, we will take you through the wonderful cultural landscape in which our 28 historical buildings are embedded and tell you the story of the houses and their inhabitants. The family-friendly open-air museum, the Bauernhaus-Museum Allgäu-Oberschwaben, is particularly suitable for family outings. Here, you can experience history in a variety of ways – in the historical farmhouses and exhibitions, through exciting guided tours, and interactive activities. In the 28 authentically furnished rooms, chambers, and stables, rural life from past centuries, customs, and traditions come to life. The buildings are set in a carefully maintained cultural landscape: farm gardens with old, almost forgotten vegetable varieties, native flowers and herbs, as well as species-rich meadows, pastures, and orchards that invite you to take a stroll across the expansive grounds. Children especially love our many animals – chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, free-range geese, and of course the Allgäu Brown cattle in the pastures. A children's guide with an activity booklet and our museum app invite you to explore our houses. Several experience days offer a colorful program, from craft demonstrations to hands-on activities. Public tours take place on Sundays and holidays. On "Family Saturdays," you can participate with a family ticket at half price. Additionally, there are free hands-on projects on these Saturdays. More information can be found at www.bauernhaus-museum.de! A special highlight is the new inclusive playground on the museum grounds. Children of all ages can play and romp to their heart's content here. High-quality play equipment made of robinia and larch wood, such as the climbing tractor and the hay wagon, invite climbing and exploration. Particularly exciting are the indoor play barn with "scratching in the hay" and the climbing stones with a "robber hole" for hiding. The playground is barrier-free, allowing children with and without disabilities to play together.
