43rd Baden-Württemberg Literature Days - Opening

Grand Opening Night of the 43rd Baden-Württemberg Literature Days LiteraKUR! Drum roll and fanfare! With a spectacular opening gala, we kick off the 43rd Baden-Württemberg Literature Days in Bad Mergentheim – right in the Kurpark, fittingly in line with the festival title LiteraKUR. The lineup does the spa town proud: The evening will be hosted by author and journalist Katrin Schumacher. Literature historian Helmut Böttiger, hailing from Creglingen, will ponder in a brief festive lecture what connects spa culture and literature. Bestselling author Iris Wolff, who lives in Freiburg, will read from her award-winning novel "Lichtungen" and discuss her writing with Katrin Schumacher. The evening will be musically accompanied by Alexandra Lehmler (saxophone) and Matthias Debus (bass) from Mannheim, two renowned figures in German jazz, celebrated for their intense duo recordings. Representatives from both the city and the region will also be present – after all, the Baden-Württemberg Literature Days are a fantastic joint venture. Come celebrate with us!
