SWING GALA

The "Swing Gala" featuring Vienna's vibraphonist Martin Breinschmid and trumpeter Gerhard Aflenzer with his Broadway Big Band has already become a tradition at the Vienna Concert Hall. Enjoy pieces from the repertoires of bands like Lionel Hampton, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Harry James, and more. The audience is invited on a journey through the era of the great Big Band era. Martin Breinschmid is an internationally renowned and respected vibraphonist, drummer, and percussionist. He has performed with musicians such as Buddy De Franco, Terry Gibbs, Peanuts Hucko, Scott Hamilton, and Ken Peplovsky, and has been a member of the orchestra of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien since 1988.

For rhythm and timing, Michael Fischer has been invited for the first time to this year's Swing Gala. Under the stage name "Astaire la Vista," he brings a legend to the stage, resurrecting the greatest dancer of all time with his uniquely unparalleled tap acrobatics.

As a special guest, Gerhard Aflenzer has invited Karin Bachner—one of the best jazz singers in Austria—for the Swing Gala.

With her expressive voice, the winner of the Jazz Fest Wien Vocal Award is among the most impressive singers in the country. She has performed with ensembles such as the Richard Österreicher Big Band, the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra, the Robert Bachner Big Band, and the Würzburg Jazz Orchestra. Karin Bachner not only has the license to swing, which she showcases with her Pocket Big Band and the magnificent Ella Fitzgerald tribute "Ella Forever," but she also shines with her soulful side as a gospel soloist.

This spectacular musical combination makes the Swing Gala a must-attend event for all fans of this genre once again.
