The Viennese chanson singer Valérie Sajdik presents French chansons by Brassens, Barbara, Trenet, and German-language chansons in jazzy arrangements, accompanied by the French star pianist Cédric Chauveau. The rhythm section for this evening consists of exceptional musicians Alexander Lackner on double bass and Alexander Deutsch on drums.

AMITIÉS: Celebrating friendship without borders on a new album – sensitively fresh and original

For her album "Amitiés" ("Friendships"), Valérie Sajdik and the French star pianist Cédric Chauveau have given new color to songs like "La mer" (Trenet), transformed hits like "Mensch" (Herbert Grönemeyer) and "Ein bisschen Frieden" (ESC winner 1982) into French versions, and turned the politically significant song "Tout va très bien, Madame la Marquise" into reggae. And Françoise Hardy's hit “Comment te dire adieu”? It becomes a bossa ballad with an elegant piano riff.

With wit and charm, the native Viennese Valérie, a two-time Amadeus winner, guides the evening, sharing anecdotes from her adopted home of Saint Privat in France, which is also the namesake of her internationally renowned electro-chanson project with Waldeck, and from her performance travels that recently took her to Senegal and from Paris to New York.

The heartfelt European conjures the unifying element of music and illustrates, among other things, how closely related French chanson and Viennese song are… An evening full of surprises, as one expects from Valérie.

One or two of her hits from her repertoire will also be included.
