Panel Discussion: "OLD.SMART.DEMOCRATIC"

A socio-political conversation about respect, cohesion, and political participation

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the GEW, in cooperation with the Waiblingen Alliance for Democracy, invites you to a panel discussion on senior policy topics at the Cultural Center Schwanen in Waiblingen. The event starts at 6:30 PM, and admission is free. Under the title "OLD.WISE.DEMOCRATIC," representatives from politics and society will discuss questions that concern many: What can democracy and the welfare state do for older people? And what contribution can older individuals themselves make to a stable and supportive society?

The moderated conversation, led by Andreas Kölbl (Waiblingen Newspaper Publishing), aims to build bridges – between generations, political positions, and life realities. Instead of a clash of opinions, the focus will be on collective reflection: on respect, responsibility, and the value of lived democracy. Questions and suggestions from the audience are explicitly welcome.

In a time when societal tensions are rising and trust in politics and institutions is waning, this evening aims to encourage continued dialogue. Democracy thrives on participation – and on people sharing their experiences. The panel discussion is an invitation to all who believe that exchange can achieve more than division.
