Thomas Freitag – Retreat over the Mines of the Plain

Thomas Freitag, the "comedian among top cabaret artists," is doing it once more and is writing what he claims is probably his last program: "Withdrawal over the Mines of the Plain." Willy Brandt, one of the politicians that Freitag parodies brilliantly, once said: "There are times when nothing is spared." This very feeling drives the multiple award-winning political satirist to his cabaret finale, which he will present, as usual, with immense acting talent, intelligent humor, and bitter seriousness. The once bright future dreams of the post-war child Thomas have now turned into nightmares – and the anger about this does not leave him cold. When he takes on a Kafkaesque role, it is only because he wants to confront the seriousness of life with the joy of art. He exposes the human hubris of feeling fundamentally superior to animals. Humans are not poor creatures just because they struggle with digital advancements, AI, addictions, wealth, and honor. However, it is they who immediately follow every positive achievement with misuse – no animal would do such a thing. And since Thomas Freitag's parodies are legendary, the greats from above naturally also have their say – for they suffer the most under the current ground crew.
