8+GUEST PERFORMANCE How Is Your Bird? Zappa for Little and Big Anarchists Studio Dan Guest Performance Music Theater, 55 Min. Anything Anytime Anywhere for No Reason at All (AAAFNRAA) With a mix of music, puppet, and object theater, live comic strip, and audio play, we zap through the oeuvre of the enfant terrible of the 1970s. At the center of the story is a young person who gathers their allies in a kind of garage ("Joe's Garage") to literally turn everything upside down and make night into day. Lovingly, disruptive parents are edited in, UFOs are assigned to the right landing spots, contemporary dance is produced, cabbage heads are examined, and desserts are invented, all to ultimately send the moon—having farted itself free from the Earth's grasp—back into the correct orbit. In this scenic music theater production for children, themes of independence, originality, and wit are explored. It is the story of a free being who imaginatively builds their own world. It serves as both a guide and an encouragement. Joining the versatile ensemble of Studio Dan are Karolina Preuschl (from Wien Diesel; aka MC Rhine) as a (puppet) performer and writer, and Robert "Slivo" Slivovsky from 5/8erl in Ehr’n as a singer, dancer, and performer. "Studio Dan" comes from "Studio Tan," a title that originates from Frank Zappa. So, once again, FZ, this time for children. "[...] this piece attempts to capture the multifaceted work of Frank Zappa with an unusual combination of music, puppet, and object theater, sprinkled with fantastic light and video installations and the music excellently interpreted by the ensemble Studio Dan. [...] With a large dose of craziness and a lot of humor, even those who do not know Zappa are playfully introduced to his music." (Kronen Zeitung) "With videos reminiscent of Monty Python, Karolina Preuschl's delightfully childlike moderation, the charming singer Robert Slivovsky (5/8erl in Ehr'n), and the oddly costumed band under the direction of Studio founder Daniel Riegler, Frank Zappa's life and music [...] became a top-class music theater. [...] Abstract, demanding, with quirky texts and rebellious actions, the imaginative story of the lovable genius outsider, directed by Manfred Weissensteiner, entertained all age groups and encouraged the younger ones." (Kleine Zeitung) "The quirky show, word, and music play is simply fantastic (or 'fantasstuhl' or 'fantasofa' as this term is creatively transformed), a universe-sized hymn to flashes of inspiration that create something new. And an encouragement for all who have ideas and thoughts that do not necessarily have to follow conventional paths."
