This show has traveled the world over the past 15 years and has performed in front of over a million people. "Amazing footwork - first class musicianship!" exclaims THE SCOTSMAN, giving the show the highest rating of 5 stars.
Irish Celtic reveals the true elixir of life in Ireland - dance and music in their millennia-old tradition. Both have always played a special role in the lives of the Irish: Even the Druids passed down their ritual circle dances from generation to generation, and even today there are plenty of occasions on the green island to dance and make music together. Whether at weddings, baptisms, or funerals - dance and music are an integral part of everyday life and an expression of the Irish way of life.
Therefore, the main focus of Irish Celtic is not only on the tap dance ensemble or the live band, but on the dance and music themselves. Accompanied by the traditional Irish band, some of the best dancers in their genre take the audience on a captivating journey to the green island with thrilling tap dance choreography. A compelling mix of Celtic mystique and contagious Irish joy of life to the fascinating sounds of Celtic-Irish music - from classic Irish folk songs to enchanting melodies and lively dance music.
Irish Music: Modern and Tradition
The excellent tap dance ensemble and the Irish band jointly interpret the most famous evergreens of Irish music. Sometimes graceful and light as a feather, sometimes energetic and spirited, the dancers whirl across the stage and transport the audience into a culture where sociability is a given and hospitality is a matter of honor. Especially in the "Public Houses," the famous Irish pubs, this old tradition of Irish dance and its music continues to thrive. Here, modernity and tradition meet, and it is no coincidence that the historically significant pub "Irish Celtic" of the old rascal Paddy provides the stylish setting for a memorable journey into the soul of Ireland. The traditional establishment has experienced much, which its owner enthusiastically recounts: With charming humor, Paddy guides through seemingly countless anecdotes about the history of Ireland, its myths, and legends - from Celtic origins to the present day.
Irish Dance: Dance is Life
Stories, as life writes them, also shape the typical Irish dance: From the roots in the time of the Druids through the influences of the Normans, from Scotland and Brittany to the emergence of solo dances in the late 18th century through the so-called Dance Masters. These traveling dance teachers established new dance forms in rural areas in exchange for free food and lodging and engaged in exciting dance competitions. This is where the unmistakable tap dance originated: Only footwork and rhythm were supposed to take center stage in the competitions - with the distinctive posture of an upright upper body and close-fitting arms. To this day, dance competitions are an important part of Irish dance, and the Céilí dances represent more than just "typical" Irish group dances: Originally the term for joyful dance gatherings, it traces back to social gatherings at crossroads where people met after work - and danced together.
