In its program "Danzas Mestizas," the Tammurriata ensemble seeks to represent the musical bridge that has developed over centuries between Spain and the New World (now known as Hispanoamerica) during the constant cultural exchange of the colonial period. The program features clear examples of the syncretism that has occurred on the American continent, such as the gradual transformation of the Spanish Fandango into the Colombian-Venezuelan Pajarillo, the emergence of the Polo based on the harmonic form of the Romanesca, the various developments of the Tonada depending on the different regions in which it has evolved, and many others. The "Danzas Mestizas" program consists of pieces by Spanish composers (some of whom even worked in Hispanoamerica), anonymous pieces from various Hispano-American codices, and traditional forms that are very present in the continent's folk music scene today. In addition to the music, the program includes readings of texts by various relevant figures in the culture of the continent, such as Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Jaime Martínez Compañón, and many others.
