With "Rock And A Hard Place," Yellow Days, also known as George van den Broek, presents his most mature work to date. The British musician, who gained international attention with his debut EP "Harmless Melodies" in 2016, returns to the influences that first brought him to music as a teenager on his new album. After exploring pop fusion ("A Day In A Yellow Beat") and conceptual sci-fi worlds ("Hotel Heaven"), van den Broek—now married and drug-free—finds a new creative clarity. The album was created in just one and a half months in collaboration with the jazz fusion band Knats and other guest musicians, who recorded several songs completely live within four days.

Musically, "Rock And A Hard Place" blends modern alternative soul with the spirit of icons like Otis Redding, Gil Scott-Heron, and Stevie Wonder. Driven by van den Broek's distinctive voice, the album showcases a raw, immediate emotionality: from the funk-laden energy of "I Cannot Believe In Tomorrow" to the introspective moments in "Daylight Miracles" and "California." Themes of new beginnings, responsibility, and the desire not to disappoint others run like a red thread throughout the work. The album is accompanied by a strong visual aesthetic, including the film noir-inspired video for "Sharon," which visually reflects the genre mashup of the album.
