This spectacle, known far beyond the borders of our homeland, has become an integral part of the Schramberg Fasnet: the Da-Bach-na-Fahrt. Every year, on Fasnetsmontag (Fasnet Monday), 40 decorated wooden tubs, aptly named "da Bach na," make their way through Schramberg. Three weeks prior, the 80 drivers receive a genuine wooden broth tub during the tub distribution, which is then lovingly crafted according to a self-chosen motto. Most of the tubs are provided by the Narrenzunft (fool's guild). The 40 tub teams construct their setups around the tub using roof battens, cardboard, and papier-mâché, ensuring that it is somewhat buoyant. Many also contribute with old canisters and car hoses, leaving plenty of room for creativity. Each tub captain swears by their own method, as the center of gravity and weight distribution play a significant role in tub construction. Experienced captains find it noticeably easier than newcomers, as the tub cannot be tested beforehand. Either you end up in the water, or you reach the finish line relatively dry. The daring women and men then attempt to keep themselves afloat with seemingly death-defying stunts. On Fasnetsmontag at 11 a.m., the parade of decorated tubs takes place through the city center to the assembly area at the New Bridge. Precisely at 1:00 p.m., the starting signal for the Da-Bach-na-Fahrt is given.
